A Rug is Born

This has been one long, cold February. Today was a good day for spending time with a steaming cup of coffee, warm, cozy sweater and my bin of wool strips.

As you already know from this website, I make plaited wool rugs. The first step in creating a rug (unless a customer has requested a specific color) is to choose a palette of wool.  Colors, patterns, textures. What calls to me today? There is snow on the ground, a bright blue sky and subzero air outside. White and cool, teal blue offset by crisp black. That's it - a rug is born!

You can follow the progress of this rug on The Wistful Grandma's Facebook page as it travels from creation to Etsy in March. Unless someone claims it first - they don't stay around for long!
