My Book

3/3/2015

In 1985 a dear friend of mine gave me a present that I use almost every day. She gave me a small book of daily meditations.

Each morning I read the daily quote, story and concluding summary point. At times humorous, at times spiritual, and at times eerily perfect for what the day was about to bring me, this little book has been part of my daily routine for three decades now. The cover is battered with one corner lost. The pages are well worn. I welcome my favorite quotes and could probably recite most of the stories by heart. The bookmark is broken in half with the tassel tangled and matted. But there is no way I want a new book.

Time has re-arranged me, my family has moved and changed and people have come in and out of my life. But I have never lost my book. It has been and always will be with me. A daily, tangible symbol of friendship, survival and change.
