My grandson gave e a purple and white pen stating I was "#1 Grandma". When you push the end a different message pops into the cutout window on the side. Everything from "You are the Best" to "Coolest Grandma Ever". He couldn't read all those words yet, but he nodded yes to all those phrases when I read them ou loud. I put the pen's lanyard around my neck and wore it for the rest of the day. That made him grin. Why did he pick out a pen for me? I don't really know, but when he visits my house he and his sister love to grab a pad of paper out of a basket I keep for them. Then they get a pen or pencil and draw, write or take imaginary restaurant orders. They have so much fun doing that simple activity. Maybe he was thinking of that. Or maybe Grandma just needed a pen!
My granddauthger gave me a mug. It states "Grandma's a Happy Camper!". As you can see from the picture in this blog there's a cute little pink RV on the mug. Now I don't have, have never used nor even have taken a ride in an RV. So what was going on in her mind? I don't fully know -- but what a compliment that she thought of me when she saw that large word "Happy" on the mug. It's the best adjective I can think of. Either she is happy when she thinks of me or she feels I am a happy person! And if my house is anything like that cute little pink RV in her mind -- I'll take it. She just grinned when I opened it and said "You can drink your coffee out of it every day!".
Two young hearts offered small items picked using great love with the simple belief they would make me happy. That belief was my best gift this year. And it will continue to warm my heart as I drink coffee out of a mug with a pink RV on it and write with a purple and whie pen throughout 2017!
