The Luxury of Time

This week I'm having a bit of a vacation. A change in scenery in which to plan product and recharge before starting to create my fall and winter shows. For someone like me who never sits still or is idle this can create a bit of a challenge. I am not used to taking time to relax. And I have to admit that while I am good at getting things done I'm not always as good at relaxing. I feel like I should be doing something. My hands should always be busy. At the end of the day I should be able to look at what I have accomplished right?

There are probably many people who have forgotten how to relax. And that is pretty scary. When I was muttering under my breath that I was bored and wishing I had brought along some work to do (which I on purpose had not) I knew I had to reexamine my attitude. I needed to rethink this. Because don't we all long for just this? Vacation. Getting away from it all. A life of luxury where we can do what we want. And here I am with exactly that. And I was complaining to myself. Am I crazy? So I took a walk. I lounged by the pool. I bought a cold drink, sat down and just people watched for (gasp) I don't even know how long. I watched a palm tree sway in the breeze. I forgot to look at my phone and check the time. I may have dozed off. I guess even I can relax.

So bring on the mojitos. Throw me in the pool. Invite me to a party. This grandma can put on her flip flops and mellow out with the best of them. This thing called relaxing is doing me some good. I may just put relaxation on my to do list
