Winter

Where I live this has been one cold winter. Going outdoors involves putting on many layers -- boots, coat, scarf and mittens. At times wool socks and long underwear have also become necessary. But, despite this, I really didn't totally dislike this winter.

Making rugs, designing new products and setting up The Wistful Grandma has taken up my winter. So when I think back on this past season here is what I will remember. The feel of my hot coffee cup warming up my hands as I greeted my wonderful boss (me!) every morning. The sound of tearing wool strips and seeing the colors of woolen cloth coming together into beautiful patterns. The excitement of seeing ideas becoming finished crafts ready for sale. The challenge of learning tax laws, blogs and tweets and getting out to find markets for my products. The satisfaction of turning my life in a new direction and liking it.

Now as spring begins its gradual arrival this week, off go the boots, scarf, heavy coat and maybe even my mittens. But all the things I experienced over the winter will continue to be with me. It's not the weather that makes a season but what happens to us along the way. So onward into spring. I want to find out what positive memories and challenges are waiting in the next season!

It has been a VERY cold and snowy winter here in the northeast as well. We have had MORE than our fair share of single digit temperatures. The smell of fresh cut grass, flowers, along with the warmer temperatures will be welcomed with open arms! It's nice to see that you are enjoying your new journey!
