Yellow Tulip Moment

I took a family member to the doctor today and on the wall was a picture of some tulips. The picture was a field of bright red tulips with one lone yellow tulip in their midst. It immediately caught my eye. How did that one yellow tulip get there? It sure stood out. Was it a mistake? A random accent? Could someone have done that on purpose? I chuckled. I thought, someone's going to pluck that aberration out of there because it's spoiling the picture!

But wait. We're all like that yellow tulip at times. Alone in a sea of others that may not be the same as we are. Perhaps we believe in something that is unpopular. Perhaps we see things from a different perspective. Maybe we were born that way. We're not spoiling the picture. We're part of the interesting and unexpected. We may be the first ones to get plucked at but we'll also be the one everyone will talk about and remember.

So the next time you stand alone in your thoughts, actions or creativity, you're just having a yellow tulip moment. You will be the sole bit of originality, character or inventiveness in the tulip bed. And remember tulip bulbs multiply by creating new bulbs around the original one. Someday that lone yellow tulip may have company!
